Parents of RTMS rising 6th graders
RTMS PTO EXECUTIVE BOARD CANDIDATES NEEDED FOR 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR
The Rodney Thompson Middle School PTO Nominating Committee is currently looking for interested volunteers to fill ALL positions for the 2015-2016 Executive Board. The elective offices of the RTMS PTO are as follows: President, VP Fundraising, VP Membership, Secretary, and Treasurer.
If you are interested in serving on the RTMS PTO Executive Board, please contact the Nominating Committee Chairperson, Kristen Barnes, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit our website, http://rtms.my-pto.org/ under PTO Information to find the Nomination Form and a description of board positions. Nomination Forms are due by Friday, April 3rd.
Nominations will be announced on the RTMS PTO fusion website on or by Friday, April 17th. Elections will be held at the May 18th RTMS PTO General Membership meeting at 6:00 PM in the RTMS library.
Please consider not only becoming a member of the RTMS PTO next year, but also joining the RTMS PTO Executive Board!

6th Annual Agents of Change Day ~ March 28th
Come out to the 6th Annual Agents of Change Day! Saturday, March 28th at Colonial Forge High School, 550 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Agents of Change Day is a FREE, family-fun event that will showcase how students are being Agents of Change at their schools by using 21st Century Skills to Make a Difference and Give Back. The day will include a Health & Fitness Circuit, Mascot Mania, Zumba, prizes, fun-runs, snacks and games for all ages. The BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, National Capital Area Council | Aquia District will be bringing the STEM van. Learn and Serve students from each high school will also conduct their Annual Celebration of Service-Learning at AOC Day with many hands-on service-learning projects. Many community businesses and organizations will be there to Give Back too! Safe Driving Education Exhibits will also be available and sponsored by GEICO. Efficiency Study Report
The Efficiency Study of Stafford County Public Schools will be presented this evening at a Stafford County School Board work session. The entire report may be seen here. Evergreen Solutions, LLC, conducted the study with the objective of assisting Stafford County Public schools in continuing to succeed and improve in its primary mission--the education of all students. Inclement Weather Make-Up Plan for Stafford County Public Schools Announced
The Stafford School Board approved using the waiver method to make up days missed due to inclement weather at last night’s school board meeting. The following are key points:
2015-2016 In-County Student Transfer Window is Now Open
The in-county student transfer window for the 2015-16 school year is now open. The transfer window will close on August 1, 2015. Stafford County Public Schools will accept transfers for the 2015-16 school year within this timeframe. To find information about how to apply for a student transfer, click here.
4th Annual FredTech STEM 16 Summit
The 4th Annual FredTech STEM 16 Summit will be held on April 25, 2015 at the University of Mary Washington from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The Summit highlights the achievements and offerings of the region’s students, educators, and businesses in the STEM arena.
Students will be able to visit exhibits highlighting student and educator STEM efforts from over 40 local secondary schools, the University of Mary Washington, Germanna Community College and NSWCDD Dahlgren. SeaPerch Competitions will also be held at the UMW pool during the same time as the Summit. The Summit is open to the public and admission is free of charge for students, parents, or non-profit organizations. For additional details, click here.
Stafford County Head Start/Virginia Preschool Initiative Program is now accepting applications for the 2014-2015
March is recruitment month for Stafford County Head Start/Virginia Preschool Initiative Program and the Early Head Start Program. These programs are now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 school year. The Head Start program serves children from low-income families who turn 3 or 4 before Sept. 30.
